Not receiving mail automatically

I am using Vista's Windows Mail. Even though I have all the boxes checked in
Options/General/Send and Receive, I do not receive my mail automatically. I
have to go to the SEND/RECEIVE tab on the tool bar next to the delete tab and
go to the tab on the bottom of that pull down menu to" default mail server."
I am sure it is something I have done. I was trying to enable favorites.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Hi, I have a similar problem, it varies with my send/receive, sometimes I
will receive new emails automatically and then I have to manually receive
them, I also have a problem receiving messages that I know were sent to me, I
never receive them, where do they go? HELP

Two suggestions:
1. Go to Tools > Accounts > select the account > Properties,
on the General tab make sure that bottom box is checked.

2. There's a possibility your antivirus has corrupted your mail account(s),
so create new (duplicate) accounts, then delete the old accounts.

Ensure that you have the setting to 'include this account when checking etc'
selected at WM>tools>accounts>account properties>general tab

Make sure you have the box "Check for messages every xx minutes" checked,
where xx is a value between 5 and 15.

When you send a test message to yourself, does it arrive in the inbox?
Have you checked in the Junk E-mail folder?

gretty, please do not tag on to someone else's message, please start your
own new thread with a unique subject line.

Does your ISP operate a web side spam filter? That may be chewing them up?
Go to the website and sign in with your credentials and check for a Spam
Folder.

Are the people who send mail to you using the CORRECT address?

Can you send mail to yourself?

Please read my reply to you. The post you quoted was not my reply
to you. Don't assume that a similar issue is identical to yours.
