Not able to open multiple IE sessions?

I have a client that isn't able to open more than one website at a time in
IE. Dell told her there was a registry change that needed to be made. Any
ideas?

My client says the following:
I open IE and use a bookmarked Favorite. The page loads. I open a new IE
session and go to a different bookmarked site and it closes the original
window and only uses the current one.

Ideas?

Tools | Internet Options | Advanced. Uncheck: Reuse windows for launching
shortcuts.

Are you sure about this? I have that option checked in my IE and it doesn't
affect the way IE works.

Go to Tools | Internet Options | Advanced.
Uncheck "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts".

Also, if you have Yahoo Companion, Google toolbar, MSN toolbar, a firewall,
Earthlink (or another pop-up blocker) My IE2 (a shell for IE) etc.
Yahoo Companion is a very common cause.

You'll have to turn off the feature that's blocking new windows or, perhaps,
uninstall the program (especially uninstall Yahoo Companion).

With some programs of this type, using Ctrl+click or Shift+click will allow
a new window.

If you're *sure* that another program isn't causing this, these links may
help.

Well, you didn't say it worked. It worked because if it is checked, when you
open a second session of IE, it closes the first. The real question here is
why it doesn't affect your machine.

My machine at the office is the same way. The box is checked but I'm able to
use multiple windows. Strange. As long as she is happy, I won't question it.
Thanks for the help.

On my Win2K machine, the "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts" option is
checked, and it does just that. Clicking a link causes the new page to
poen in the same window. However, holding down the shift key while
clicking, or clicking on a shortcut which contains the /n option, opens a
new window as expected.

Never too old to learn. Never had a Win2K so this is uncharted territory for
me. Why IE would act differently is beyond me, but I'll make a note of this.

Thanks,
