Norton V WinXP Firewall

Have just installed Norton 2006 and it recommends that I switch "off" the
WINXP Firewall so as to get optimum protection from Norton.

Which is best? Follow the recommendation or let the two "on" at the same
time?

Thanks in anticipation

It does not make sense to have both running.

I wonder, however, why You choose to add an extra layer of insecurity
(Norton) when You already have the option of using the WinXP firewall
which gives You decent protection unless You intent to run all kinds
of questionable programs.

try both it did not hurt me that much. i went on the thoery that no body is
perfect. and what norton missed ms would catch visa versa.

This biggest problem i had was bootp timeouts and norton was dumping there
for a while but that went away with an update that is now part of the base.

if you computer is to slow then u will have to choose. does norton still
not recomend reporting to microsoft security that it is installed?

Personally I would not recommend anything Norton/Symantec to anyone
for any reason, unless there was absolutely no alternative software
available at any price.
