Norton a/v locks up in c:\windows

Norton keeps locking up in c:\windows while scanning for viruses.

It has stopped and show the following file...but when I search for it, there
is no such file found. (the "installer" folder does not even exist... and
only two .msi install files exist when I search .msi).

c:\windows\installer\582d0.msi

Any ideas?

Thanks, Terri

It's a hidden folder, to view it you have to open windows explorer
|Tools|Folder Options.. |View Tab | uncheck " hide protected operating
system files"
Whilst your at it, unistall Nortons and get a decent AV.

Open either MyComputer or Explorer.
On the Menu bar click Tools > Folder Options > View tab.
Change the Tic from "Do not show hidden files and folders" to "Show hidden
files and folders".
Click Apply > Ok.

You should now be able to see the Installer folder and its contents.

There is no "Nortons", its "Norton". Peter Norton has nothing to do with
any version of NAV that works in XP.
Uninstall your Symantec product is a much more appropriate statement.
Though, not valid.

I stand corrected indeed you are correct, but I have seen far too many
issues with Norton AV so would not recommend it to any user, plus
Symantec's support is quite unsatisfactory IMO.
I have no affiliation with CA /Vet, but you can ring customer
service and speak to their technical staff and get FREE assistance with
their products, try that with Symantec.
Your own experiences and preferences may differ.

Then uninsatll it. And use a free anti-virus program.
