Ok, I know this should be simple, but I just recently purchased a Linksys
Cable/DSL router w/4 port switch to share my cable net connection between 2
machines; one running XP Home SP2 and the other XP Pro SP2.
I setup the router as I should have according to the instructions and both
machines now share the internet connection via the router. I believe that I
also can setup file and printer sharing between these 2 machines as well. So
I went through the Network Setup Wizard on both machines, each time choosing
the option for "this computer connects through a residential gateway" (as
both machines directly connected to ports 3 and 4), and then making sure that
the workgroup name is the same in both instances. On the Pro machine, I can
only see itself when I view workgroup computers, and on the Home machine, I
get an error stating that "MShome is not accessible. You might not have
permission to use this network resource".
Both machines have administrator accounts. I turned off the Windows firewall
on them both, but still running Norton's IS and ZoneAlarm.
Am I missing something? Do I need to configure the router?
