Hi,

I'm doing an assignment for one of my classes at my local community
college; the assignment is to post a message to a newsgroup, explaining my
favorite features of Windows Vista Ultimate Edition. I like the Aero effect
and the easy to look at layout.

Please, please, please tell your instructor that he or she is inconsiderate.
People use newsgroups for real problems. Your instructor is teaching
students to spam. Your message and all the others from your classmates are
spam. Please teach your instructor some consideration; he or she seems to be
a rude jerk that needs to learn social skills.

The phone number of the office of Information Technology at Laredo Community
College is 956-721-5312. It is listed in their directory in their web site.
That is probably a relevant phone number for us to use to contact them. I
will try to remember to call tomorrow.

Their website also lists the faculty email addresses if you navigate to the
CIS "Instructional Department" (on left of main page) and click on either
the "Faculty", "Staff", or "Contacts" links. Robert Moore (rmoore @ laredo
..edu - without all the spaces) is the Department Chair.

I called. the person I spoke with was clueless; he had a vague understanding
of what a newsgroup is. I don't know if my call did any good.

The reason I posted that telephone number is because it was in the rejection
message I got back when I tried to use email to contact them.

"5312" (the last part of the phone # you've posted) is not listed as an
"extension" for anyone in the CIS Department. Mr. Moore is listed as
"5401". There's also a notice at the bottom of the "Contacts" page that
reads, "Note: For those trying to reach Mrs. M. Garcia from an outside line
(from home, work, cell phone, etc.) please add the numbers 764- before her
extension or if trying to reach Mr. G. Martinez add the numbers 794- before
his extension. To dial any other number above from an outside line add the
numbers 721- before the extension of the instructor or staff you are trying
to reach." So Mr. R. Moore should be at 956-721-5401 as per this notice.

5312 is not an extension; it is part of the phone number, which is listed in
the site's directory for the Information Technology department.

Yes, I understand, but those are also "extensions" such as someone within
the school may call a single digit prefix and then the "extension" (i.e.
5-5312) to reach a specific person. These are also the numbers listed in
front of each faculty member on the "Contacts" list on the CIS page.
Following the instructions below is "supposed" to get through to them.

I'm not picking . . . , I was just trying to be helpful as I find these
posts to be a distraction too. I thought maybe one of the MVPs would use
the information to contact the school directly as they would carry more
weight than I, not having any "credentials".
