NoExecute=AlwaysOff worked for me. So, what's up with "PAE mode"?

Well, I finally found problem with my system with SP2. My system will
not do DEP, and I have to set noexecute to always off. This is
annoying, as that was at least one reason I got my Athlon 64, to be
all ready for this new feature.

From article:

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/winxppro/maintain/sp2mempr.mspx

MS says that some systems have problems with PAE mode, which seems to
include mine, and to completely disable PAE mode takes turning off
DEP.

The article seems to say that they tried to make PAE mode have minimal
impact, but some system BIOSes and some device drivers might have
compatibility issues with it. So, I don't have any idea on how to
find out where my problem might be. I have downloaded latest firmware
for my motherboard, and RAID controller, and latest drivers for every
device in my system.

Paul,

I'd bet that the RAID controller driver is not yet PAE or DEP
compatible. Could you ask the manufacturer?

Generally speaking, Adaptec is usually pretty good at staying on top
of these things. But, you could be right. I will send a tech support
request. I have checked their site for current BIOS and drivers, and
I'm okay there.
