No Voice Reporter on P4P800

I only get two beeps when my new P4P800 system boots.

How do I get the built in voice reporter to work? Do I have to enable
the onboard audio AC'97 to hear the voice? I have a PCI SB card
installed so I have the onboard sound disabled.

Also does anyone know where I can find the beep codes so I can tell
what two beeps mean? On my old ASUS board it only used to beep once as
it booted. I am afraid there is something wrong here but I do not know
where to look for the problem.

TIA

Yes, you have to use the onboard sound for the voice reporter feature.

I use the onboard audio and the voice reporter has NEVER worked for me. I
think Instant Music might not work either, but I haven't tried it with the
+5VSB jumper enabled.

Well if it's not a Deluxe, it doesn't *have* a voice reporter, unless they've
changed it since they printed the documentation for mine.

I haven't seen anything about it in the documentation, but I've seen people here
saying that it beeps once for each USB device plugged in. That seems weird to
me, since all my older motherboards all beep once for a normal boot. I haven't
bothered to test it myself -- my system is up 24/7 (when it's working, that is)
and only one of my USB devices is plugged in when I'm not actively using it.

First of all it is a Deluxe, and I should have mentioned that. :-(

Also I have four USB devices installed: wireless mouse, scanner,
Sandisk compact flash reader, a joystick and a wheel. Since that adds
up to five devices and I know there are only four cables plugged in to
four USB ports it looks like I had better crawl underneath my desk to
see what is missing.

More questions:

- What happens to the external sound card if I energize the onboard
sound? Will they both work? Will neither work? Will anything be
damaged? I would like the voice reporter to work but not at the cost
of the other SB card.

- As I have not had a chance to use all the connected USB devices
could the beeps indicate two of the devices are working fine but there
is a problem with two or something like that?

If I had to guess, I'd say the BIOS would use the built-in sound and the OS
would have to figure out which one to use (I've heard Windows XP can use two).
I don't think there would be any electrical problems because they each have
their own output. They'll probably each require an IRQ; whether that's a
problem depends on how many of your IRQs are already in use and whether any of
the devices will be happy sharing them.
