No Video on Preview Pane

I see no video playing in the Windows Movie Maker preview pane when playing
the story (.AVi files or .jpg files). I have just a black pane. The audio is
fine, though.

I can save this Windows Movie Maker project to my computer and then play it
fine, but of course I cannot see the editing process. I just guess how it
will show...

I'm running XP Professional version 2002 w/ Service Pack 2 on a Dell
Dimension DIM9100, Pentium 4 CPu 3.00GHz, 2.99 GHz, 1.00 GB of RAM. My
display resolution right now is 1024x768.

Additionally, I have version 11 of the Windows Player, in which all these
..AVI files play just fine.

The .AVi files were recently created with a Canon Powershot A620 and
transferred via the camera's software (CameraWindow). These clips appear
then inside Canon's Zoombrowser EX (part of the software CD of the camera),
but at times I have experienced the same type of problem: audio, but no
video.

If this helps, when I go to CNN.com I cannot see their videos. I do see them
at CNET.

Thank you for your time and suggestions.

Mesmerized,

Juan Ramón

Try this:

Go to your display options, click on the Setting tab, click Advanced, go to
the Troubleshoot tab, and put the hardware acceleration off.
