No video - may have accidentally switched default monitor (?)

Hello,
I have an ATI All-in-Wonder 9000 Pro card installed in a 2.6ghz Windows
XP SP2 system. I purchased a new widescreen monitor today and could not
get the system to accept any changes to the resolution (I had a
'normal' monitor attached previously). According to the product
documentation the card/system is capable of handling the selected
resolution but any changes I made wouldn't 'stick'. While in display
properties I chose the secondary monitor (which one does not physically
exist). I believe I changed my default monitor to the secondary monitor
as I have absolutely no video now. I've searched ATI's website,
Microsoft suppprt and googled for a resolutionto no avail.

Now that I can't *see* what is going on with my computer how do I go
about restoring the display properties and/or removing the secondary as
the default monitor?

Thank you,

Jo

Thank you for the suggestion, but even doing so I did not get a video
signal. It's possible, since I was 'working blind', that I did not
actually wind up in safe mode =) The issue was finally resolved by
resetting NVRAM (CMOS). Perhaps it wasn't the best method, but doing so
resolved both issues (video signal and changes to resolutions settings
being accepted).

I didn't catch that you made the change in your bios, else I would have
suggested going back to default, please make sure you state clearly what
steps you took when you made changes, as I thought it was windows you
changed, not bios.
I would suggest you NEVER make video changes for a monitor in your Bios, do
it in windows for this very reason.
