No sound

I have no sound of any kind in my speakers. I've used all advice in MS help
program but nothing seems to help.
1) I've checked my network card which is OK
2) I've printed all information of certain units such as DVD/CD-ROM-UNITS
HP DVD WRITER 300n and IDE-DVD-ROM 16x which both inform me that "no
resources are used". This answer tells me nothing; should they be used or....?
3) I've printed all info about USB - units and got the same answer as above.
4) I've activated NVIDIA WINDOWS 2000/XP DISPLAY DRIVERS which is
functioning OK.
5) I've printed info about SOUND-VIDEO AND GAME UNITS with the answer that
no resources are used.
6) I've updated the drift procedures for IDE-DVD ROM 16X.
7) All cords are OK.

I DON'T KNOW WHAT MORE TO DO, PLEASE HELP ME!

What is your sound card set up - on-board or a separate PCI card ?

Right click on My Computer > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager > Sound
Video and Game Controllers > Any mention of a sound card ? Any yellow
triangle against it ? If so re-install your sound card drivers.

Try using the speakers on a friends PC - dop they work there ?

Are your speakers plugged into the correct socket (should be green, or check
your docs that came with the computer/sound card) ? Are they turned on ?

If still ,othing, re-post with more details (sound card, speaker types etc).
Cheers,
Jerry

Hello Jerry,
thanks for your interest.

Here are my responses to your questions:
1) My sound card is within the computer (on board)
2) When clicking on "Sound, video and game controllers" I get the following:
a) Creative SB Audigy
b) Sound-CODEC
c) Media Control Units
d) Sound Trap Recorder
e) Video-CODEC
f) Older drift procedurs
g) Older Video Taping Units

3) I haven't had time to test my speakers on a friend's computer yet
4) My speakers are plugged in to the green socket

I don't know the brand of the speakers nor the sound card and I don't know
how to get it.

Cheers
Johnny
