DVD sound

I've never used a software DVD player before and I'm wondering about WMP,
since it will show the video but I get no sound at all. All other sound
functions on the system work OK. I wonder if I need a codec or something, or
if the software for my Sound Blaster Audigy (1) is messed up somehow. Real
Player is the same way.

WMP requires a 3rd party MPEG2 decoder on the system. Which one are you
using?

I searched the Web for awhile and came up with a freeware plug-in that seems
to work quite well, so far. I do very little DVD playing on the system, I
mainly wanted to try the "Video Essentials" disc I have on the system to see
how it shapes up. Anyway, thanks for the help, I'll check out that site you
sent.
