No sound

I did an update this am for my pc using windows update and now I have no
sound on my pc. The update was Update for Windows Media Connect and C Media
Electronics Incorporation - Sound - C-Media AC97 Audio Device. any advice? In
my device manager there is now a yellow exclamantion point where it says C
Media Electronics Incorporation - Sound - C-Media AC97 Audio Device. Under
properties it says his device cannot start. (Code 10)

My sound was working prior to this update. oh and I'm running windows xp home

Roll back the driver.
In future do NOT use winupdate for any drivers, use manu.web site only!

Never install drivers from Windows Update. Roll back the drivers for
your sound card.

Same thing happened to me. Uninstall the upgrade, uninstall the AC(&, then reboot. It
should reinstall your old driver (the one that worked) .
