No Sound :(

Recently My Moms BF did a disk defragment and I guess
deleted our sound card, This is what I am guessing since
Audio will not play on our computer anymore..i mean
NOTHING plays not even the lovely sound of AIM messenger (
which i once hated) I tried reinstalling My Santa Cruz
software but it says its unable to locate driver or
something like that...Im not very smart when it comes to
fixing things on computers, so if anyone could help me id
appreciate it ALOT! i really miss having sounds on here.

Defrag will not delete hardware.
Go to Start/Settings/Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager
Check for disabled items, a yellow check mark, check properties of any
disabled items and trouble shoot.
You will probably have to reinstall yr soundcard drivers.
These will have been supplied with yr sys, or are obtainable from manu.site
