When I go to Control Panel>Device Control I get the worngin box "RUNDLL
An exception occured while trying to run
"C:\WINDOWS\system32\shell32.dll,Contro_RunDLL
"C:\WINDOWS\system32\USBAudio.cpl",Device Control"

Hi Kelly,
Thanks for the help. Unfortunely you're over my head. I don't know what
"Start your troubleshooting with Creative" means. Am I in too advanced a
newsgroup? If so please direct me to the right place. In the mean time
could you explain what you mean. I have looked through old posts they all
seem to be about trouble with sound not comming from the speakers.

Thanks again,

Apparently you have a Creative Labs sound card, so the advice was to go to
their website or technical support for help on issues that are specific to
their product.

You aren't in a very advanced newsgroup at all. If you were, the poster who
"answered" you would have learned how to properly express herself and
learned that top-posting is frowned upon in UseNet.

Thanks, I feel stupid I didn't realize that Sound Blaster was a Creative
product or that was even the name of a company. Seeing how I didn't mention
Sound Blaster I wounder and am impressed that Kelly knew. Is it hidden in
the wronging? Anyway I am now trying to find the answer through Curative's
site. However I think there must be some switch not turned on because there
are other sounds coming form inside the computer but not the one for the Caps
Lock. I looked in "Sounds and Audio Devices" on the Sounds tab under Program
events but do not find Caps Lock. Is it called something else? Is there a
was to get back to the default settings?

I realize that these are sounds that come through my speakers. Not the
sounds that come from inside the computer case. What are those sounds, are
they also played by Sound Blaster? Do you known their file extension,
perhaps I could find them that way.

I believe the ones you would be looking for are in .wav format.
Is it possible that you don't have a sound assigned to the caps lock
function?
On my system, it isn't even listed in the possible Windows sounds.

You are most welcome, Steve. To clear things up, I would suggest starting
with re-installing the software for your sound card. In addition and in the
meantime:

Fix the Ding.wav File (Line 6)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.

Good luck and keep us posted!

Pete,
Yes I did finally figure out the problem. It was too simple. None of the
suggestions worded. It is an accessibility issue. Go to Control Panel in
the Start menu click Accessibility Options click Keyboard under ToggleKeys
check Use ToggleKeys.

This feature is so that people with handicaps can hear these key going on
and off, but I sure find it useful.

Hope this helps,
Steve
