No signal when starting WinXP - Asus 9800XT

Hey,

I bought myself the Asus Radeon 9800 XT/TVD a couple of days ago. But I
seem to have a small problem with it. When my computer starts Windows XP,
just after the loading screen, my monitor (IIyama Visionmaster Pro 454)
seems to be losing the video signal for a couple of seconds. After that;
the monitor finds the video signal again, and the Windows XP desktop loads.
This problem occurs as soon I have installed the Catalyst Drivers (3.9) from
ATI.

I tried a friend's videocard (a non-Asus Radeon 9800 XT). I didn't have the
same problem with it.

Is this normal ? It seems the videocard is doing "something", as my Windows
XP waits to load the desktop when the videosignal reacts again. Is there
something I can do (configure) to prevent this ?

Many thanks in advance!

Best regards,

Frank

Hi Frank

My Asus Radeon 9800 XT/TVD does exactly the same thing with the 3.9 drivers,
so at least you know its not your card ! Haven't tried it with any other
drivers though, so I cant say if its specific to the 3.9's or not.

Mine does same thing. Using the drivers supplied by Asus, for now. Seems
normal. My 9700np had the same thing, on startup.

I have a 9800 nonPro on one machine and a 9000 Pro on the other. I
experience this as well using the 3.9 drivers, especially after using fast
user switching.

OK.... Was trying out Omega's version of the 3.9's. The pause that you
guys seem to be talking about is VERY long. It made me think that the
driver install had munged itself. The pause that I see with Asus's driver
(3.7's) and both Catalyst/Omega 3.7's is only about 3-5seconds. Seems as
though, in the 3.9's, it's taking a longer time for the driver to load.

Same "problem".. ah well it's not much a problem.. it's just the
driver redrawing the screen :p
