No Inter-Site Topology Generator on one of my sites

E

Evan Mann

I have a Windows 2003 AD with 3 sites, 1 DC per site. Each DC is a global
catalog so I have a GC in each site.

When I go into AD Sites & Services and looking at NTDS settings on each
site, one of my sites has no Inter-Site Topology Generator listed. In my
other two sites, the local site DC is listed as the ISTG. Why is this 1
site missing one? Do I need to correct this? I've been runniung into
problems with FRS not being able to replicate on and off (not because of
network problems) and with DHCP de-authorizing on this one site.

Hi Evan

You should have an ISTG per site, do you have any Active Directory
replication issues to this site? Also what are you seeing in the DS event
log, are there any errors?

Have you adjusted any of the options on the NTDS settings to switch off ISTG
or anything?

try running repadmin /showreps to see if ad replication is working.... there
is also another option in the 2k3 repadmin that will go to every DC and
output any failed replication attempts. This is :

repadmin /showrepl /errorsonly

Thanks

Jody
