No Icon for jpeg's

I recently installed Macromedia Fireworks. Result was that jpegs became
associated with it. Icons of jpegs were change to a Fireworks icon. I tried
to change them back to the default Winods viewer, bu telling my sytem that
that is the default program for jpeg's. No result.
I removed Firworks. No result; the icon was still Fireworks.
I used TweakUI to repair icons. Result was that the jpeg no have no icons at
all. It still opens with the picture viewer as it is supposed to, but I wnat
the original icon back.
Can anybody help?

That would not change the icon.

The folder options panel in the control panel can reset the icon, but you
should print the instructions in the folder options panel help file before
going any further.
Changing the icon can be a challenging operation...

Ton,

You should be able to change the default icon via Folder Options, File Types dialog. If that does not help, type REGSVR32 /i SHIMGVW.DLL in Start, Run dialog. Restart Windows.

Another option is to alter the registry:

HKEY CLASSES ROOT\.jpg
Set the value for (default) to jpegfile

HKEY CLASSES ROOT\jpegfile\DefaultIcon
Set the value for (default) to "shimgvw.dll,3" (without " )
