I have recently installed service pack 3 for windows XP and it seems to be
working fine. I'm having a problem docking my Ipod. I get an error
message; "Ipod's service module has encountered a problem and needs to
close". Thats as far as I get. I went into control panel/administrative
tools/computer management/device manager and when I highlite device manager I
have a blank screen on the right side showing no devices. HELP!!

I found plug and play and the start and stop option was not highlighted so I
right clicked plug and play and disabeled it, then enabled it to open
automatic. It did not work, still nothing in device manager.

For Pro

Go to Start/Run and type in: mmc /a. Go to File and choose Add/Remove
Snap-in. Click Add then scroll down to Device Manager, Add. Save it to
devmgmt.msc in %windir%\system32.

Added info:

To extract: Go to Start/Run/CMD and type in the command below: (Substitute
C and D accordingly).

C:\>extract d:\i386\devmgmt.ms_ c:\windows\system32
\devmgmt.msc

where d: is your CD rom Drive with your windows XP CD.
Whatever your CD rom drive letter is then substitute it in
the command line.

Or:

Restore the Device Manager (Line 107) Right hand side
