No connection to the internet

IE6 no longer starts up the internet connection
automatically and I get the "No connection to the
internet" message unless I'm already connected via
Outlook Express when everything is ok. I've checked the
Connection Settings and all are correct in that they
state "Always dial my default connection" (I'm using
broadband so there are no LAN settings active.)There are
no Automatic Configuration or Proxy settings active
either. I've checked the LoadLCE and LoadSens settings in
the registry and these are set to auto which I believe is
correct Anyone any clues please?

Furthermore, the Google toolbar appears in my
View/Toolbars list with NO NAME! Simply unchecking that
one (no need to fully uninstall) fixed the problem. Now
IE will automatically make the connection when it starts
up. Too bad, 'cause I had grown to like the Google
toolbar so much!

Will someone from Microsoft be looking into why this
suddenly went wacko with the latest Windows Update
Critical Security Patch?

Meanwhile, I'll be checking the Google site...perhaps
they are already on it?
