"No CD or DVD burner has been detected" message

How can I resolve this message and get my WMP operating properly
again? I've been unable to burn for several weeks now, though
before that everything worked fine. I uninstalled my third party
burn/rip software (Alcohol 120%) but the problem is still
preventing WMP from being able to "see" my CD drive. What do I
need to fix specifically to get this working again? (And
Microsoft can you please release some sort of fix so that third
party software does not hijack the drive from WMP?)

Thanks - the thing is, my drive is still visible from CP or My
Computer. It hasn't vanished except that WMP is the only program
not seeing it (and then, ONLY when I burn - I can still playback
CD's with WMP and retrieve song info when a disc is inserted).
Checking the drive out in Device Manager, it lists as functioning
properly, etc. And it works fine using Roxio, and for normal
disc-to-harddrive installs, etc. Just not when I want to burn
from within WMP. Will this patch fix that problem specifically?
