No Autocomplete on secure sites using Internet Explorer

Does anyone know of a problem with the Autocomplete function in
Internet Explorer for secure websites?

While Autocomplete works fine for non-secure sites or if I browse with
Firefox, I cannot figure out how to make it work for secure sites while
using Internet Explorer.

I have tried clearing my forms, passwords, etc. as well as cookies with
no luck.

Any advice??

Hi,
Many, but not all, of the secure sites that I use have disabled password
caching. I suspect that's what you're seeing. In other words, it's normal
and it's a safety/security feature.

Hope this helps,

Hello Don and thanks for your response,

I am less interested in caching my password than I am my username. My
main motivation for getting this to work is to switch between two Gmail
accounts without retyping my user name each time. I can't use Outlook
to bypass this problem b/c I already get these emails downloaded to my
office computer.

It does not seem to me that Autocomplete is being disabled by the site
since Autocomplete works fine if I go to the site using the Firefox
browser. I might be wrong, but that is why I think it is an Internet
Explorer 6 problem.

I would use Firefox exclusively but some sites I regularly use are not
compatible with this browser.

I can't figure out why this works for one browser (Firefox) but not the
other (IE6)?

Any thoughts?

Hi,
Does it help to put these sites in Trusted Sites? (Internet Options>
Security)

Are you allowing cookies for these sites?

Yes, I added the site as a trusted site. I also tried to set all the
security settings to Low and the Privacy setting to Accept All Cookies.
No luck. I have since restored the default settings for these as I
don't like to keep them this low.

Would this possibly have anything to do with the fact this laptop is
running Windows ME? I have come to suspect my operating system having
something to do with many of the problems I have with this computer
from previous experience.

Thanks for your help in any case.

Is there a box to check for "Remember My User ID on this Computer?" But,
that will remember the last username you logged in with. It probably won't
give you a choice of multiple usernames.

You might try the free program Protected Storage PassView from
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/pspv.html Delete saved usernames/passwords for
the troublesome sites.

Still no luck after downloading Protected Storage PassView and deleting
all the selections. I'm at a loss. I guess I'll have to wait for IE7
and hope the issue is resolved then.

Thanks for your help.
