no attachments in Vista Ultimate Mail in messages from MS Outlook

I am unable to receive attachments from people sending them with e-mails,
created using MS Outlook - even though they are NOT using RTF.

What's worse, the "windowsmail.dat" file is buried inside the message I
receive (Vista Ultimate, Windows Mail), rather than be defined as attachment
which I could decode using one of those free utilities...

Any help welcome

I mean - yes, the sender says he's using Plain Text, yet the problem
persists.

Any ideas?

As I believe you've realized, OL's RTF and HTML are not the same thing.

A good test would be for the OL user to make certain a new message is being
composed in Plain Text before attaching anything and sending it to the
WinMail user.

Also make certain that (1) the OL user's anti-virus application is not
scanning outgoing mail and (2) the WinMail user's anti-virus application is
not scanning incoming mail.

Why you don't need your anti-virus to scan your email

See Gary's response. If you have a winmail.dat then they are using RTF even
if they don't know it.
