Get Windows TweakUI for XP.
It will allow you to define the type of arrow. Small (normal), big, or
none.

This happens if the "IsShortcut" registry value is missing in the file association settings for shortcuts. Open a Command Prompt window (CMD.EXE) and type the following command:

reg add HKCR\lnkfile /v IsShortcut /t REG_SZ

Press {ENTER}

Restart Windows.

Dear Big Al

Thanks for the help but is there any other way to get the arrows back than
installing TweakUI for XP?

Will appreciate your extra help.

Dear Ramesh

The IsShortcut entry is already there in the registry. Any further help be
appreciated.
