no adresses in personal address book

Using Office 2003. Outlook has data file for contacts. When I want to
address envelopes from word, there is no data file (PAB). The same is true
in Outlook when I want to find an address from within an email I am
composing. Clicking on the To icon does not produce any entries. I have
over 100 entries in my Outlook Contacts list.

This is a new re-installation of my system and I did move the PST files to
the standard location. There is a PAB file with a file size of 256K which
seems very small. How can I populate the PAB file or correct this problem in
some way.

Outlook does not use a PAB file. That's for Outlook Express. Open Outlook
with Folder View and right click on your Contacts folder, go to Properties,
select OL Address Book tab and Show this folder as an Address Book.

This happens a lot when Outlook is upgraded or files are moved. From Outlook
tools > e-mail accounts, view or change existing directories - look for
the Outlook Address Book. If it is present delete it then whether is was
originally present of not add it again. (This does not delete your contacts
list).

If you have more than one contacts list you can set the order from Outlook >
Tools > Address Book > Tools > Options.

Note that Outlook must be your default e-mail application to use the
addresses in Word.
