No Active mixer device available

My speakers were working fine yesterday but now I keep geting the message "No active mixer device available, etc" I cheked the "Sound & Audio device properties" and it indicates 'No Audio Device' Does that mean that my sound card has became faultey.

Hello,You may have a faulty driver.You can go to the manufacturer's web
site and see if there are any new driver updates.
