New templates don't show in New From Template

PPT 02. I downloaded a couple of cool templates from the Microsoft Office
templates site. I put them in the templates folder where all the other *.POT
files are. But they don't show in PPT when I choose New From Template, so I
can't use them.

Yes you can. At the bottom of the task pane there is an icon and the word
"Browse". Click on it and you can select any POT file on your system.

Yes. They work fine. And they are far better, IMO, than the ones that come
with PPT. Thanks to you both. May the PowerPoint Fairy bless you both. :)

Since we are talking about new templates. I was tasked to redesign a
template to customize a generic ppt. I created a new image to be used
as background in Photoshop and imported it into Powerpoint.

I created a new design template in the appropiate directory and I can
see the template in the design template menu when attempting to create a
new presentation.

However, when I click on the template it offers the option to apply that
template to the current slide or to all slides and when I do that it
only shows a blank white background. I tried with other templates and
they are fine.

Any suggestions...

Any help would be appreciated.

Changes to templates must be made in View > Master > Slide Master mode and then
saved from there. I suspect that you modified the template in Normal mode.

(Next time please post new questions to a new thread.)

I tried that and it didn't work.

However, the resident background slide of the existing presentation was
comprised of two seperate graphic files. I imported the desired
background image, moved it to the back and deleted the two graphic files
that made up the original background. Subsequently saved it and applied
it to all the slides. It was a roundabout way but it worked. Thanks
for the information.
