New program installation

I am having difficulty installing Quickbooks Pro 2003 on
my Windows XP machine. When I initiate the setup this
error message always pops up- "Quickbooks setup has
detected that an installation/uninstallation of an
application may not be complete. Please restart your
computer and then install Quickbooks. You must restart
your computer before you can install Quickbooks."

I have restarted my computer many times to no avail. I'm
not sure how to find what might be hanging up this
installation. Any suggestions?

If you are unable to remove what appears to be a previous installation,
check the Intuit website for help with this issue. They have numerous tech
papers or contact their tech support:
www.intuit.com
