new motherboard

I just got a new motherboard with an AMD 64 3000+ CPU and installed
Windows XP on a fresh hard drive. However, when Windows tries to load,
a graphics screen with light blue and a few dots in weird places shows
up. Then my computer appears locked up. Any ideas?

I can get into safe mode okay, but I'm not really sure how to get
regular mode working.

Your motherboard should have come with a CD that includes drivers. Did you
install?

You can try removing everything from the device manager in safe mode,
reboot, and let drivers for the new motherboard install.

The guaranteed known good method is to back up your data (and not Windows)
before removing the old motherboard, swap the motherboard, install fresh
with the new motherboard installed, restore your data.

Ability to boot in safe mode but not "normal" mode indicates a driver
problem - to which JS is probably alluding.

Ever try that when doing a repair install, bucko???

If you know something I don't, I'm all ears...
