New Monitor

Hi folks, I have just upgraded to a new 20" flat screen LCD monitor. The
resolution is set to 1680 x 1050 as directed. Is there anyway to set this
up so that when I open applications, they are at full screen and not so
small that I can hardly read the text? I have set the text to largest in
all places where that is an option. I hope I have stated this clearly, any
help will be most appreciated.

check under the advanced tab of video settings for HIGH DPI setting. select it, apply and reboot.
that should make the lettering bigger.

to make the programs full screen you will probably have to click on maximize button for each, or use the properties of the shortcut and select maximize.

Running an application full screen normally has no effect on the size of the
text. It just lets you see more text at once.

In most windows applications, you can change the size of the text it
displays by holding down the Ctrl key and scrolling the mouse wheel.. One
direction makes it smaller, the other bigger.
