new installation windows xp

I wiped clean the hard drive and I tried to install the
full version of Windows XP on my computer. I'm stuck in
an install loop. When it finishes installing it tells me
it was successful, removed the disk, hit enter, but
within a few minutes it brings me back to the set up
menu. I tried this 3 times already. I tried without the
disc in the drive and it still brings me back to the set
up intall menu. I even rebooted, but that didn't work.
Any ideas what is wrong? I would appreciate any info,
thank you.

Elaine,

I'm not doubting your ability to do the setup, but could
it be possible that you are pressing "enter" when you
should not. When I've installed pressing enter causes it
to reload setup. Not pressing anything it will boot from
the hard drive and XP starts for the first time.
