new HDD installation and O/S installation on it

I am trying to install XP PRO onto a new pc and 200G Maxtor hdd
At set up I have tried to install the default windows drivers for SATA but
it comes up with hard drive not found
So i tried to select 'install third party drivers" to install from a floppy
that I had copied the drivers to, from the Asus V8 Deluxe mobo CD. All it
does is bring me back to the option screen for installing third party or
windows default SATA hdd drivers

The BIOS detects my Maxtor drive but Windows XP Pro doesn't seem to
Set up is SATA Maxtor set up as Primary Master and CD ROM/RW set up as a
secondary master

It seems to be a driver issue as XP PRO is not seeing the disk but the BIOS
is but i'm not sure.

What am I NOT doing?

Thank you for your constructive response NOT, but seeing as I do not know
whether it's a hardware or software problem i feel quite within my right to
post to both groups
So you stop whinging and offer constructive help........... if you
can.....please
