New Hardware Wizard

A

Andrew Chalk

Every time I boot up the new hardware wizard starts, telling me about no
driver for a device I never use and can't get a driver for. How do I kill
this thing?

Many thanks.

Are you saying that you actually have the device installed on your system
but you never use it and can't find drivers for it? If so try removing the
device physically by opening the case and removing it.

If you choose not to go that route then disable it. Go to Control
Panel->System->Hardware Tab->Device Manager button-. This brings up the
Device Manager window. Locate the device and select it the "Disable" button
from the menu at the top of the window.

Disable the Item in Device Manager.

Thanks to you and Harry. I disabled it.

I always uninstall whatever it is and let the computer reinstall it.
That usually works. Now if the problem persists you might think about
looking into a new peripheral device...
