New hardisk on the way in the mail

Tom

I have a new hardisk in the mail for my laptop.

I 'm curious what wil happen when I clone the old data to the new disk? My
XP Home is one of them restore DVD types that has an generic XP key from
Toshiba(meaning it doesn't match the sticker on unit).

Will I have to reactivate XP will it deactivate when cloned to new disk?

Will I have to reactivate Office 2003?

Will I have to reactivate Norton Ghost 10 and Internet Security???

This activation stuff is getting to be a hassle if ya do a fresh reload of
the OS then ya spend days on the phone getting codes:(

That sucks I paid for all of them

With XP it *could* balk and demand reactivation for XP, although that should
not happen as you are changing only one piece of hardware.

Before doing such a thing as cloning to a new drive, though, backup
important data. You never know what you might run into and you could very
well appreciate your data was saved to a third location.

Check to make sure your clone software will enable full access to all the
space on your new drive if that is what you want. It may have a variety of
options for how it does the clone.
