Reactivation and MSINFO32

On taking delivery of the new PC (new CPU, old hard drive)
I ran MSINFO32 (to see whether MAC addresses had changed,
since used for my router's security system) but it would not show
any data. This was no doubt because the system had to be
reactivated -- which got done after some delays because I had
not beforehand checked the KB drivers, so could not at first
input the 42 digits calculated . . . I had them written down and
entered them an hour later the same day.

But this has been done and MSINFO32 still does not run (and
XP SP3 will not let me re-reactivate, because I tried. . .) Is
there a special tweak to restore this useful function?

Have you tried Everest ? It reports hardware info.

And if Windows would not run at all, a Linux LiveCD may
allow you to query hardware.
