new card / drivers

I'm gonna go from a GeForce TI4400 128MB to a ATI 9600 XT 256MB and was
wondering if anyone had any advice regarding the removal of the detonator
drivers / nvidia card. Is there a quality program that does it for you ? Do
you run this program AFTER the physical removal of the old card ? Do I go
through Control Panel / Device manager to remove card or through Add/Remove
programs ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.
Sorry if I appear a dumbass :))

Here's what I do:
1.) Remove existing drivers from "Add/Remove Programs" in ControlPanel.
2.) Reboot into safe mode. Windows will detect new hardware, avoid this by hitting ESC.
3.) Run DriverCleaner. http://www.driverheaven.net/cleaner/
4.) Install latest Chipset/AGP Drivers.
5.) Turn off computer.
6.) Install new card.
