New build + vista Home Premium OEM

OK, I built my new PC and purchased Vista Home Premium 64bit (OEM) as I was
told it was ok wto buy this with a new build ONLY.

Everything went fantastic, installed well and Actived!!

I decided to install my Nforce4 64bit driver for my Motherboard and Nvidia
64bit GFX card drivers... when i got...

"Windows has deactived due to hardware change. You must activate within 3
days or windows will stop working."

I tried to activate and it says that this key is already used!! (derr yup i
installed it on this PC). I range Support they said, they could not help!!
What do i do now? I paid £70 pounds for this version, to buy the full version
it will cost me around £200.

Surely this cant be right? If people buy a new pc with OEM installed, and
they inadvertadly updated their drivers, they will envounter the same issue.

Please help..

Thanks in advance, Jeff

There's a kb article available which addresses this problem.

Running Windows Update should install the patch though. You may need to
reactivate via telephone.

Thanks for the reply. I did phone them and after a long conversation I
managed to get it re-activated. support was very helpfull, but I did feel
like I was being treat like a criminal.

However, I will be upgrading my Video cards in a couple of months and will
probably encounter the same issues. For someone who buys a new PC and then
decides to upgrade etc.. this would be a nightmare.

I'm also told even if you change your Wireless Network card driver/hardware
it will be the same issue.

Something needs looking at here in my opinion. I paid £70 for my Vista, and
I'll be damned if i'm going to pay for a full version (non-OEM) or a new
licence.

There shouldn't be any reactivation needed with a change in video cards.
