New backgrounds on old presentations

This is a newb kind of question but, my company just switched to a new
look and feel with a new design for their powerpoints. This means that
when we prepare presentations we must now use the new design. No
problem, but is there a way I can open an old presentation and somehow
get the *new* background in it?

I did a copy paste from the master slides but I'm thinking that there
must be an easier way. We are using PowerPoint 2003.

Thank you very much.

Best practice is to develop a new corporate template that includes the new
backgrounds on the master slides, as well as all placeholder formatting
setup to work with the backgrounds, default color scheme, etc. Then for each
presentation open the new template, import slides. Not all will update or be
positioned as needed, so need to click through and hopefully just make minor
adjustments to slides.
