networking problem

I have been trying to network 2 computers at home with no success.
Here is my sitch.

Desktop lets call it computer #1 connected to dlink router through
network cable.

Laptop Computer #2 connected wirelessly.
both running XP home.

Ran the network setup wizard, can access internet fine from both but
have problems with interaction between the actual computers.

Computer #1 does not see that any computers are on the network at all
..

computer #2 does see both computers, can open shared files on itself,
but when I try to open anything on computer #1get the following error.
"Computer #1 is not accessible. You might not have permission to use
this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to
find out if you have access permission.

The network path was not found."

So things that I have tried so far.

1. Made sure that the Windows XP firewall was diabled.
2. Tried with my Zone Alarm on and off.
3. I can ping each computer from the other.
4. assured that the guest account was turned on.
5. made sure that both computers use the same login name and password.
6. made sure that the computer browser was started.
7. made sure Client for microsoft networks was checked on bot
computers.

I am running out of ideas. I mean all I wanted to do was to share the
printer attached to my desktop. Hopefully someone out there will have
the magic answer.

Thanks Ashley

Ashley,

Try going to the Network Connections page , Right mouse button the Lan
connection then go properties. The second tab is "Authentication". Try
unchecking the "enable IEEE 802.1 authentication for this network" on both
pc's
