networking issue

I've just set up a new network (two client PCs networked to one "server" PC).
I've run the network set-up wizard on all three and i'm having a strange
problem. The two client computers can see the host PC, can access the
internet through it and see its files and printer, but the host PC is not
recognizing the client computers at all. When i click "my network places" i
get a page that says "Unspecified" at the top, and shows a general icon for
only the files set to share on that computer. When i click the workgroup
icon, it shows only that computer as well, and I cannot ping the client
computers. However, on each of the client computers, the "my network places"
shows the network correctly, including the host computer, and the workgroup
shows up correctly as well. HELP!!!!!
ANy ideas on what i need to do?

I had same problem. Now, I have changed some thing, but the problem is still
related. I've read about 20 articles on the problem, tried out all suggested
'solutions' and nothing helps. It is amazing how easy should be according to
these articles, yet it does not work... and no-body replies to your post
(neither to mine). If I followed correctly you posted similar or same problem
a couple days ago ... and no answer whatsoever.... at least not the one that
could really help

A good possibility, especially if you can't ping the clients from the host, is a
personal firewall problem.

Also, check each computer by running browstat.

Or, provide some details about your network, and we can diagnose the problem.

What your problem was, was not terribly clear in your previous problem report.
Please start a new thread, focusing on your problem, and providing some
diagnostic detail about your network.

Look at David2505's post 'Access Denied' dated Wednesday June 01, 2005.
It worked for me.

Caveat, editing the registry is scary. You might wanna back it up first.
