Networked laptops dialing Internet when on LAN connection to Internet

Dear Sirs/Madames:

Windows XP Pro Laptops at various clients are configured
to dial up the Internet if they cannot detect the
network. (Intenet Explorer option > Connections > - Dial
whenever a network connection is not present.

However, even when the laptop is on the network (verified
connectivity), the dialog box for Dialing the Internet
will pop-up. This happens at different locations
(unrelated companies) on different Brand Name of laptops
and network cards. It does not occur with Windows 2000
Workstation.

Please point to the resolution of the matter.

Thanks,

John Hutchinson

Hi funny enough I have encountered the same problem, but unable to solve it
I had to "never dial a connection" and then if the network is not available,
do the connection manually...

I think it's an XP bug (most likely)???
