Network Issues

I have 3 xp computers networked through a Linksys 4-port router.
comps 1 & 2(laptop) work fine, but comp 3 will not create a network
connection in windows.

The Network Connections folder is empty, The 'create small / home
network' wizard will not run at all. I click the link and it does
nothing. If i run 'netsetup.exe' it asks if i want to continue,
"yes", it unpacks some files then disappears.

I compared the 'device manager network devices' to 'network connections

folder' and as i said before it's empty. I uninstalled my hardware
ethernet driver throught the device manager, then reset the computer.
The driver re-appeared under device manager, but the same problem
persists.

I have been searching on this for about 2 hours with no luck. I am
also new to groups so point me in the right direction if i posted this
in the wrong place. Thanks in advance,

JV

Is the NIC if onboard enabled in the BIOS?
Does the NIC show up in device manager under network adaptors?
Are the latest chipset drivers installed if onboard?
Is the latest NIC driver installed if it is a PCI?
