Network Connections - MSN?

T

Terry Pinnell

As a sole user of a home desktop PC with broadband, network stuff is
largely a black art to me. So I expect this question has an embarrassingly
obvious answer...

In the course of researching something else I opened my 'Network
Connections' folder.

Could someone explain the MSN entry please? Do I need it? If so why is it
unavailable, i.e. what device is missing? How would that have come about
and what, if anything, should I do about it?

He asked for an _explanation_ of it.

(FWIW, I myself don't _know_, but suspect it's unavailable because you
haven't registered with MSN, that entry being something to do with using
the Microsoft Network. Or because you haven't set up such a network
between your local PCs, since you only have one. But I hope someone who
knows will explain better than my wild guesses!)

it's for his MSN dial-up Phone-Line Modem
MSN Internet Access
if he going thy a Router he will not need it,
if need it will reinstall it for hr setup the right drive....
if he not using it he can Delete the MSN entry

MSN Connection Manager is installed when you install (or begin an
install) MSN Explorer. It will show a "missing device" if you don't
have a dial up modem. Right-click the MSN entry there and click Delete.

Go to Control Panel> Add or Remove Programs.... if MSN is listed there,
uninstall it.
Then, on the left side of Add or Remove Programs, click "Add/Remove
Windows Components".
Scroll down the list that appears, uncheck MSN Explorer, click Next, and
follow the prompts.

Thanks Glen, understood.
