Network game with 98se+xp+cable modem????

Setup:

I have a cable modem hooked up to Comcast. The cable modem is hooked to a
1x4 Netgear router. From the router, a line goes to a W98SE machine and
another line goes to a XP Pro machine.

Question:

Is there a way to play a game between both of these computers?
For instance something like Starcraft?

I'm not sure of the software setup.

That would depend on the particular game - some play well with routers,
others don't.
