Network Connections

I have a windows xp sp2 system that can access 2 files servers. When a print
job is spooled to a Linux server, the server uses FTP services to send the
job back to the workstations shared printer. After that has not been
working. I noticed that the network connections window does not come up.
Double click it and get an hour glass, then it stops, but the information
never comes up. I can not view the status of the LAN connection. Also at
the command prompt i get an IPCONFIG.EXE error. All the network functions
other than that seem to work, Internet, mapped drives, etc. Any suggestions
