Network connection - Local area problem

When I access the properties option of the Local Area Connection in Network
connection I receive the following error:

"You do not have sufficient privileges for accessing connection properties.
Contact your adiministrator."

This happens on a Windows XP SP2 system which is on a Windows SBS2003
domain.
The username which I use for logon is a member of the Domain Admins and of
the local administrator group of the client pc.
Why is it denying access?

I must also note that at windows firewall option in tab advanced
The network connection settings and security logging group has disappeared
and in that place there's a message:
"The network connection settings have become corrupted. To fix this, click
Restore Defaults. This will delete all of your settings for Windows
Firewall, and it might cause some programs to stop working."

I click restore defaults, nothing happens.

Specifically, I'm not sure what happened to your system, but I would try
repairing the Windows installation as it seems to me that some files have
been corrupted.
