Netsky D has got onto my PC. Can I get rid of it without using system restore?

Have seen different postings about Netsky B, do I just have a different variant?

I am a novice and don't understand any technical jargon, please be gentle.

Read it VERY CAREFULLY.

And next time either get Norton AntiVirus and keep it updated, and don't
open any email attachments without applying some common sense first.
Failure to do these things is what got you in this mess.
