Net use command help

I am having no luck with the Net use command.

workgroup is: 178john
computer name: computer1
printere share name is: hp

I used the the following command line:

net use [lpt1] \\178john\hp/persistan:yes

I get this error message;

local device name already in use.

Even though you may not have a printer connected to your computer, you
may have a printer port that has already claimed the "lpt1"
designation. Try using lpt2 or lpt3. Also, I don't think you need the
brackets around the device and there should be a space before the
/persistant.
