Net Transport 1.50

I don't know how many are using this, but looks like a cool program. One
of the best download managers I have tried.

Description:
Net Transport is a fast and powerful download tool. You may use it to
download files from Internet servers. Net Transport now supports HTTP,
HTTPS, FTP, MMS (Microsoft Media Services) and RTSP (Real-Time Streaming
Protocol) - five protocols used to transfer data. It can use multiple
threads to download files (this feature is supported for HTTP, FTP, MMS
and RTSP protocols). If a sites allows multithreaded downloads, you can
expect much faster speeds. This is especially effective for MMS streams,
because they use a fixed transmission speed and loading several streams
of the same file fully uses your Internet bandwidth. RTSP also can use
multiple threads to shorten download time, in addition, you can check
"Streaming/Delivery Bandwidth" to use TurboPlay feature of RealNetworks
to accelerate delivery.

Been using it for a long time. Do you know what the update changes? One of the D/L managers that integrates with My IE2 perfectly.

Hi Jack

Don't know if this helps, but here are the changelogs from the last two
updates of this program.

Net Transport 1.50 (Sep 17, 2003)
---------------------------------
Open all advanced features (full version), please discard and forget
"Special Edition"

NTLM authentication is supported for MMS (include HTTP) and RTSP, in
addition, RN5 authentication works for RTSP.

Record LIVE for both MMS and RTSP.

Small size executable programs (only 650K) do great jobs, but no
dependency, no other DLLs required.

Fixed some places making file bad.

Updated "User Manual".

Fixed a bug in HTTP that half-baked response line made download failed.

Added a feature that user can download ASF via HTTP instead of MMS.

Net Transport 1.42 (Aug 20, 2003)
---------------------------------
Added a global option "code page" to enhance multilingual support. For
example, selecting 936(GBK) under English Windows OS, every link will be
translated in Simplified Chinese. This feature is very useful when pages
encoding is not same with Windows OS.

Added code to copy/paste URLs in the form of UNICODE.

New resource (XP style).

Modified code in HTTP that whether to send referrer is due to its
presence.

Added feature "Save history" (HTML).

Changed connection method in HTTP from "close" to "Keep-Alive".

Added feature "import/export URL list".

Added shortcut key (Ctrl+I) to show/hide "Favorite", program can be
navigated without mouse.

Thanks. I've installed but not used the new version yet. The new XP like look is OK and the SSL for FTP is the only changes I can see so far.

does Net Transport integrate/run in/with Netscape (as a plugin for
example)? It would not be a good solution if one has to copy each
download first into the clipboad instead starting the download with Net
Transport automatically by clicking/starting the download within the
Netscape browser. I'm still using StarDownloader for a longer time which
integrated a plugin within the Netscape so that every download starts
StarDownloader without to have to use the clipboard.

I don't use Netscape, but Net Transport can add "Download by Net Transport" and "Download All by Net Transport" to the browser's right click menu upon installation, if you choose. For those times when it fails to pickup the browser click. "Monitor Browser Clicks" is one of the settings available via the right click "Options" menu.
