XP Pro, SP3, IE8, Avast, Windows firewall, Malwarebytes,
SuperAntispyware, SpywareBlaster.
In an effort to find out why Windows Live Mail was not saving my
password, I thought I'd check out my user account.
I'm a named user/administrator. Went to Control Panel>User Accounts and
clicked on my name. I was surprised to see that at the bottom of the
changing account options was "Set up my account to use a .NET Passport".
I KNOW I have already set up a .NET Passport using my primary e-mail
address. which is also a registered Windows Live ID.
Went through the motions of setting it up again and in my user account,
the option then said "Change my .NET Passport".
Thought that had fixed it but after re-boot, WLM asked for my password
and the option in my user account had changed back to "Set up my account
to use a .NET Passport".
So it seems that nothing is being retained.
I had uninstalled CCleaner prior to this and all I have is
SpywareBlaster set to protect against ActiveX and cookies.
What the hell is going on.
